Our philosophy is deeply rooted in blending traditional artistry with modern innovation, creating spaces that not only look exquisite but also feel profoundly alive, with each design is a celebration of Sri Lankan heritage, handcrafted with care to reflect your unique way of living.
HOUSEFUL was founded by Mevan De Silva, HOUSEFUL was founded by Mevan De Silva, a passionate designer whose career began as a salesman at Ms. Lakdiva Furnishers, Moratuwa, a pioneer in the industry & one of Sri Lanka’s leading furniture suppliers. His commitment and understanding of the industry quickly earned him a promotion to Showroom Manager (Merchandising), where he developed extensive knowledge in everything from raw timber to showroom presentation. This deep, hands-on experience became the cornerstone of his vision for authentic Sri Lankan craftsmanship.
In 2018, that vision came to life with the opening of the first HOUSEFUL showroom, a name inspired by a close friend. The business was well received, recognized for its elegant craftsmanship and personal approach to design.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, HOUSEFUL adapted and continued operations from its current base in Moratuwa, the heart of Sri Lanka’s furniture-making heritage.
Over the years, HOUSEFUL has served an esteemed clientele including Mr. Ashok Pathirage, Mr. Muhundan Kanagay, Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka, Mr. Johnston Fernando, Mr. Asanga Senevirathna, Mr. Manjula Senevirathna, and Mr. Rohan Buultjens.
Its craftsmanship has also been featured in renowned hospitality projects such as Anilana Nilaveli, Anilana Pasikudah, and the popular Brown Bean Coffee Café chain, each project reflecting the creativity, precision, and cultural depth that define the brand.
HOUSEFUL has also collaborated with many of Sri Lanka’s most respected architects, including Mr. Vipula Munasingha, Mr. Asela Perera, Mr. Heshan Sendanayake, Mr. Sheran Henry, Mr. Channa Horombuwa, and Mr. Dineth Kottahachchi. These partnerships have helped shape some of the island’s most refined and visionary interior spaces.
Each creation is handcrafted from ethically sourced timber and brought to life by skilled artisans from Moratuwa. Combining modern design sensibilities with traditional craftsmanship, HOUSEFUL ensures that every piece embodies quality, comfort, and the essence of Sri Lankan identity.
